DESCRIPTION OF ITINERARY:
DAY 01: COPACABANA – LA PAZ (Bolivia): A driver will pick you up from the hotel in Copacabana (Bolivia) then you will be driven to La Paz city which is located 153km from Copacabana. The town of Copacabana is located on shores of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, at an altitude of 3,840 m above sea level, with a population of 3000 inhabitants. There is a church in Copacabana which was originally of a Moorish style, then Renaissance style which was built between 1601 and 1619 and rebuilt in 1610 and 1651. The image of the Virgin of Copacabana was carved in wood by Tito Yupanqui which has Indian features and very visited by Peruvians and Bolivians. Copacabana is today a center of pilgrimage of thousands of loyal, besides the port serves as starting point to the islands of the Sun and Moon. On the way we will take a local boat to cross the lake titicaca (Tiquina strait, about 700m), from San Pedro de Tiquina to San Pablo de Tiquina. Then we take out land transportation to continue to Tiwanaku (Bolivia), passing on the way the local villages Chua Cocani, Huatajata, Batallas, Laja (Copacabana to Tiwanaku 174km, and Tiwanaku to La Paz 74km) or (Copacabana to Tiwanaku 174km, and Tiwanaku to Desaguadero 44km). Arrival at Tiwanaku, cradle of andean culture. The archaeological site of Tiwanaku, reflects in its excellent work in pottery such as keros (ceremonial glasses), the huaco-portraits (three-dimensional portrait of a human face in a vessel) likewise textiles, architectural constructions with an astronomical orientation. According some studies Tiwanaku could be might be the lost Atlantis, as it is the second oldest culture in South America after Pucara (Peru); it has the status of Cultural heritage of the Humanity for UNESCO. Visit the museum lithic and ceramic, the archaeological site of Tiwanaku composed of seven architectural constructions as Kalasasaya, underground temple, pyramid of Acapana, Kantatallita, Kerikala, Putuni and Puma Punku. Formerly known as Taypikala, that in Aimara language means Central Stone. This culture stablished 1,000 BC, and it disappeared by 1,200 D.C. Tiwanaku has 3 periods of evolution of their culture which are: The villager, Urban and Expansive. Then a car trip of 1h 30min to La Paz (Bolivia) or connection to Desaguadero (Peru), a car trip of 40min. End of our services.

If you travel to Bolivia, visa is not necessary for U.S Citizens and most other nationalities. If you hold a passport from another country, we will send all information necessary otherwise check with your local consulate or embassy about requirements for travel to Bolivia. All passengers traveling internationally are required to have a passport. Please carry proper identification on you and do not leave in your suitcase or hotel room. In most of places like airports, train-bus stations, frontier or at any other check points you must to show passport, because some countries have laws that require you to carry your passport with you at all times and anywhere.
